Darts Pundits & Commentators

In the world of sport, darts isn’t one that will immediately jump to the forefront of the minds of many people who like to watch some live events from time to time. Football is obviously considered to be the national sport, whilst tennis hits the headlines when Wimbledon rolls around and the same thing is true of golf during the week of the Open Championship. Darts has its own moment in the sun, which comes when the action moves to Ally Pally in December for the World Darts Championship, seeing some of the names and voices of the sport enter the homes of those that might not watch the sport very often the rest of the time.

Commentators & Pundits on TV

Sky Sports Darts LogoWhen it comes to where you actually need to go in order to watch live darts on TV, the best place to head to is Sky Sports. When there is a major tournament on, one of the broadcaster’s channels becomes Sky Sports Darts, with Sky Sports Main Event also showing the tournament if there’s no other major sporting event going on at the time. You can also see some darts on both Premier Sports and ITV from time to time, but there is no question that Sky Sports is the main place to head. That means that the likes of Now TV customers can also watch darts tournaments play out, presuming they’ve paid for the Sky Sports package.

Whilst darts is a simple enough sport to understand the mechanics of, asking the players to throw the arrow into the segment in order to score points, there can sometimes be intricacies of the sport that do require a little bit of explanation for those not accustomed to watching or playing. There are times when the players have to both start and end their point-scoring with a double, for example, which will need to be explained to the uninitiated. There is also the need to talk us through the excitement of the match, engaging the casual viewer with the importance of the moment and ensuring we know what we’re actually watching.

List of Commentators & Pundits

Darts is one of those sports where the voices of those involved will be recognisable to the majority of people, even if it isn’t something you watch very often. That is thanks to the fact that darts has become something of a sport for the TikTok generation, with content being available on a regular basis that is gripping to watch. Some of those that take on the responsibility of commentating on darts or producing punditry for the sport are former professional players themselves, whilst others are just good broadcasters who have a soft spot for darts and are therefore willing to get involved with coverage of it.

This list is far from exhaustive, but it will give you a sense of the kinds of voices that you can expect to hear when watching some darts coverage:
